Ribbon

This was a piece I did for the Photographic society website, as the site was supposed to be having its 20th aniversary I thought it would be nice to put a bow on the site. My first step was to find a picture of a bow and then traced out the shapes in illustrator but it looked very flat with just solid colours so I thought it would be nice to put in some shading. At first I wasnt sure as to how this could be done until I found how to use to gradient mesh tool in. Now that I know how to use this tool I know how to create some nice shading effects in illustrator.
